Today, more than ever, the need to recognise the health risks in hygienic-sensitive areas where bacteria, germs and viruses are easily spread from touching, speaking, sneezing, or coughing is essential.

The main difference between Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Microbial is the type of micro-organism inhibited and the strength of protection. Whilst Anti-Bacterial protects against a range of mild bacteria, Anti-Microbial provides a greater scope of protection as an antibacterial, antibiotics, antifungal, antiparasitic and antiviral. In addition to this the Anti-Microbial will kill bacteria, prevent growth of new micro-organisms, and prevent spread of pathogens including bacteria, protozoa, yeast, fungi, and viruses.

BioCarbon Laminates Anti-Microbial Surfaces

BioCarbon Laminates range of HPL and SGL offer Anti-Bacterial protection with the added protection of an innovative Anti-Microbial surface nanotechnology designed to actively inhibit the spread of micro-organisms, whilst being completely safe for humans and animals.

Through dedicated research and development Anti-Microbial protection comes as standard across our complete range of laminates both in HPL and SGL, which demonstrates our commitment to the health, safety, and wellbeing of our end users.

Silver ions are the active ingredient for this level of protection. This natural element has been implemented into many applications for its ability to inhibit bacteria, germs, virus, mould, and odour across the entire surface. The silver ions are non-soluble and provide a long-lasting protection throughout the whole lifetime of the laminate, whilst having no impact on durability or performance.
