Let’s Talk

What is Solid Grade Laminate?

Solid Grade Laminate (SGL), also known as compact laminate, is a high-performance material engineered for demanding environments like washrooms.

Made by bonding layers of kraft paper and resins under high pressure and temperature, SGL is tough. It’s waterproof, impact-resistant, scratch-resistant, and holds its own against harsh cleaning chemicals, making it an ideal choice for washroom cubicles, vanity units, and wall panels.

In high-traffic spaces where hygiene and durability can’t be compromised, SGL delivers. Easy to clean, built to last, and designed to look good doing it.

SGL is a self-supporting product and is available in 8mm, 10mm, 12.5mm, and 16mm thicknesses. Please get in touch to discuss your project's requirements.

What is High Pressure Laminate?

High-Pressure Laminate (HPL) is a high-performance decorative surface material designed for demanding washroom environments.

Manufactured by bonding layers of kraft and decorative paper under intense heat and pressure, HPL is engineered to handle the challenges of busy washroom spaces. It’s waterproof, impact-resistant, scratch-resistant, and stands up to harsh cleaning products, making it ideal for cubicle systems, vanity units, and wall cladding.

With BioCarbon Laminates, you're not just choosing durable laminate, you’re choosing a carbon neutral, UK-made solution that delivers on both sustainability and style.

HPL is not a self-supporting product and will need to be bonded to Moisture Resistant MDF (MRMDF). HPL is available in 0.7mm, 0.9mm, and 1.2mm thicknesses. Please get in touch to discuss your project's requirements.

High performance laminates

BioCarbon Laminates are high quality, durable decorative panels, ideal for demanding interior applications requiring high specification materials, making them the best choice for high-traffic areas with heavy duty use. The stain resistant properties and ability to withstand impact make this laminate the perfect choice for both horizontal and vertical applications.

BioCarbon Laminates conform to CE Mark standards for health and safety, and environmental protection for construction products. As well as using sustainable raw materials and conforming to FSC® credentials as standard.

We are proud to receive certified recognition of our environmental performance and calculations of our carbon footprint through our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). This is available below to download or through The Environmental EPD® System.

The structure of BioCarbon Laminates

The manufacturing process behind BioCarbon Laminates creates a high-performance, impact-resistant surface material, built for the most demanding commercial and public washroom environments.

At its core, each panel is composed of layers of kraft paper, bonded together with phenolic resins. These are compressed between decorative papers impregnated with melamine, then cured under intense heat and pressure. The result? A dense, homogenous laminate that won't peel, delaminate or let you down.

Key features

As the UK’s first zero-carbon driven laminate, BioCarbon Laminates are designed to meet the growing demand for sustainability without sacrificing performance. With FSC® certified materials, built-in Anti-Bacterial and Anti-Microbial protection, and SGL Fire Performance as standard*, our laminates are the best solution for both eco-conscious and high-impact environments.

They also offer scratch resistance, impact durability, and are incredibly easy to clean, making them the perfect choice for busy, high-traffic areas.

PLEASE NOTE: *Fire performance (FR) does not come as standard on High Pressure Laminates (HPL), but can be added as an optional feature. Please state this when ordering.
